A hands-on conservation adventure to support rescue bears.

Spend a week working with Free the Bears at the Luang Prabang Wildlife Sanctuary in northern Laos, with field trip leader Amy.

Free the Bears has rescued more than 150 bears in Laos since the sanctuary’s inception in 2003. The sanctuary also houses endangered species that have been rescued from the illegal wildlife trade such as pangolins, primates, and Red pandas. Free the Bears rehabilitates and releases wildlife into protected areas, and rescues more bear cubs than any other organisation in the world. The wildlife sanctuary is home to Moon bears, Sun bears, and other threatened species like pangolins, tortoises, primates, Red pandas, civets, and leopard cats.

During this 7-day field trip we will work alongside local staff helping to provide support with construction, enclosure refurbishing, enrichment creation, landscaping, and planting. Following our weeks’ work we will trek to the breathtaking Tat Kuang Si waterfall where we will be met by private vehicle with our luggage en route back to Luang Prabang city.

Spend a day of leisure exploring Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for it’s cultural heritage and stunning architecture. Enjoy the friendly and welcoming hospitality of the gentle Laotian people while travelling with purpose to support the incredible conservation work of this world-renown organisation.
